Community Engagement

Part of SNAAC’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of our associates and within our community. This is apparent in our philosophy regarding community involvement. We developed a community service and volunteer team of SNAAC associates who identify, coordinate, and take on community service opportunities that allow associates to give back to the community with a particular focus on our local community of Mason and U.S. military service members and their families. In addition to seeking out ways to help, SNAAC takes the next step by offering every associate eight hours of paid time off each year to be active within the community, whether it be a SNAAC sponsored event or for other causes important to our associates. Below you will find some of the ways SNAAC does its part to serve.

VA Medical Center

Three days each month, usually during the second week, SNAAC volunteers at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center (VAMC) and hand out healthy snacks, such as fruit, granola bars and string cheese, and beverages, like fruit juice and water. SNAAC provides the snacks and beverages for about 150 patients per day and a total of 450 patients each month.

SNAAC began this community service program in September 2013 and has been at the VAMC every month since then. Each year, nearly 100 associates contribute hundreds of hours serving veterans at the VAMC.

Homeless Veterans Stand Down

Stand Downs are an initiative of the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide services to homeless veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as healthcare, housing and employment.

SNAAC participates in the Northern Kentucky Homeless Veterans Stand Down, collecting donations and items via departmental drives and partnerships with other local companies. Some of the donated items include new clothing, beauty products and health and hygiene items for this event.

SNAAC volunteers prepare bags for the attending veterans and assist with day of event needs. SNAAC has also led the charge in collecting all of the personal care and clothing items needed to fill between 350-500 backpacks given to homeless veterans each fall.

USA Cares and United Way

Since 2013, SNAAC has been a key supporter of USA Cares. USA Cares is an organization that helps post September 11 military service members in a financial, familial or medical crisis by offering a hand up versus a hand out. They have saved many military families from eviction and homelessness by offering financial assistance, job placement, resources and training where needed. Unlike other organizations, 80 percent of the contributions are redirected back to the military member with all in-state contributions going to military needs within the respective state. In addition to providing volunteer support for their various fundraising efforts, SNAAC also offers a payroll deduction option and associates can choose to designate a portion of their pay to USA Cares and/or the United Way of Warren County. SNAAC also makes an annual company contribution to USA Cares, donating $15,000 in 2015. For 2016, associates have pledged more than $7,400 to USA Cares and more than $9,200 to the United Way of Warren County.

Mason Food Pantry Drive

Every year, SNAAC collects non-perishable items to donate to the Mason Food Pantry. From toiletries to canned goods, SNAAC departments compete to bring in items for the Pantry to give away during the holidays. The winning department gets to select the manager that will wear a turkey costume and deliver the goods to the local pantry. SNAAC has been a key contributor to the Mason Food Pantry for the past five years.

Mason 5K Walk/Run

SNAAC provides community support celebrating our locations in Mason, Ohio. SNAAC has supported both the Great Mason Chase and sponsored the Mason 5K Walk/Run. These fun, team-oriented and healthy events help support the local community as well as the Epilepsy Foundation, which provides valuable services to the community including counseling, support groups, community education, group homes, a camping program, a day program and more.

SNAAC Rises to the Occasion

SNAAC is a nimble and philanthropic organization. Previous and ongoing efforts to give back to the community, active military and veterans include sending care packages, cards and notes to active military members through Operation Thank You and participating in the Valor for Veterans 5k Walk/Run at Northern Kentucky University.
